Ivica Jakimovski, General Director of the construction company Golden Art, was elected President as president of Construction Chamber at the Annual Assembly of Macedonian Chamber of Commerce . The companies members of the Construction Chamber of Macedonia unanimously passed the mandate for the next two years.
“Creating a better business climate for the companies from the construction sector, cooperation with the institutions especially in terms of adjusting the legislation, strengthening the membership in the chamber and proposing constructive measures, as well as supporting energy efficiency through monitoring the world trends in construction are the most important activities of the which will work together with the companies that are members of the chamber in order to maintain the stability and prosperity of the construction in the Republic of Macedonia, “said Jakimovski, adding is that the responsibility entrusted to companies is an additional incentive to lead the Chamber of Commerce, which is open to cooperate with all stakeholders in the sector, experts, businessmen, institutions and educational staff in order to develop this important branch of industry.
The priority of the Macedonian Chamber of Commerce is the request for extension of the preferential tax rate of 5% for value added tax (VAT) for sale of residential space, given the fact that in conditions of registered decline in construction in the last few months this is one of the measures that need a future solution.
“In conditions of the increase of the VAT rate for the dwellings, it is expected that the nominal value of the budget revenues based on VAT will be reduced due to the expectations for reducing the turnover of the apartments by three times, reducing the employment in the construction sector and consequently all complementary activities, more precisely on 26 connected branches due to the reduced production of apartments, “said Jakimovski.
