The vertical tasting of Chateau Kamnik archive wines from the Merlot grape variety is certainly one of the remarkable events that will take place during this year’s Skopje Wine Salon – Vinodonia. The vertical tasting is about archive vintages and it enables comparison of the development of the wine from a single variety through the years, demonstrating the ageing potential, as wines develop different taste, nose and color during their process of ageing in bottle. The archive wines are not commercially available and the wines selected for this particular event are all well aged, elegant and smooth, with particularly nice and soft tannins, which makes them real bottled treasures for the winery. They are actually kept for the purpose of monitoring the dynamics of the development of the life of the wine in bottle. The wines selected for this vertical tasting event are from the Merlot grape variety and all of them have won highly appreciated and respectable international awards. This vertical wine tasting event is going to be a unique opportunity for the wine lovers and connoisseurs to taste Merlot Single Vineyard Reserva, vintages 2005, 2009, 2010, 2013, 2014 and 2015, and Merlot Signature Grand Reserva 2012.
The vertical tasting and the related workshop will be held by Prof. Dr. Goran Milanov and Msc. Sandra Georgievska, the Main Oenologist at Chateau Kamnik winery, on Friday, 1st December 2017, 17:00 h at the Marriott Hotel Skopje. The topics that will be elaborated cover the technology of production of each individual vintage, from the vineyards to the bottling and later the process of bottle ageing.
