Forum: Investments for long-term economic growth
The USAID Partnership for Better Business Regulation project held a forum on “Investments for long-term economic development”. This is the eleventh forum in a series of events organized by the project, in order to initiate talks between the business community and public institutions on certain issues affecting the legal compliance of companies in Macedonia.
The President of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, Zoran Zaev, the USAID Office Representative in Macedonia, David Ateberi, the President of the Macedonian Chambers of Commerce, Danela Arsovska and the head of EPI CENTAR International, Ljubomir Dimovski had official addresses.
“Of particular importance is the regional economic cooperation that opens up the prospects for new firms, creating new jobs. It is yet to invest in international infrastructure, gasification and digitization, which will facilitate the cooperation between companies and the flow of people and goods. These are serious chances for your existing and new businesses. At the same time, by building the economy, we will build a better life for all home here in the Republic of Macedonia, “said the President of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, Zoran Zaev, as one of the most important priorities for the upcoming period.
In his address, the USAID Office Representative in Macedonia, David Ateberi, said: “Strong private sector has a vital role in the country’s ability to be self-sustaining. In order to develop the private sector, in addition to the government’s financial support, the country needs a simplified and stable regulatory environment. Good governance is also needed, as is the inflow of investments in its infrastructure. I am glad that I see that the government is open to a constructive dialogue with the chambers of commerce and private sector representatives on these issues. “
The President of the Macedonian Chambers of Commerce, Danela Arsovska, in her address, emphasized the importance of the rule of law and the rule of law as top priorities for investing companies in the Republic of Macedonia. “To dare the business sector to invest, stability, trust in the judicial system and rule of law are needed equally for all. In addition to the active measures for encouraging investments, the commitment in the fight against corruption is of great importance, “Arsovska said.
After the formal part of the forum, three panel discussions were held on the problems most commonly faced by companies in the area of legislation, access to finance, as well as trends and innovations in the field of investments.
The USAID Partnership for Better Business Regulation project is implemented by EPI CENTAR International in partnership with the Macedonian Chambers of Commerce, the Economic Chamber of Macedonia, the Economic Chamber of Information and Communication Technologies – MASIT and the Economic Chamber of Northwestern Macedonia. Through active participation in the project implementation, the chambers will also strengthen their own capacities to better represent the micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.
