The President of Macedonian Chambers of Commerce, Ms. Danela Arsovska, met with the Ambassador of France HE. Christian Timonie and Mr. Pierre Lignou, Director of the BUSINESS FRANCE Office Greece.
The meeting discussed possibilities for increasing trade between the two countries, in addition to the planned business forum France - Balkans 2018, which will be held in Belgrade from May 30 to June 1, 2018.
The meeting was underlined that this forum is a great opportunity to connect with business partners from 12 countries, among which, in addition to France and the Western Balkan countries, will be Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Moldova and Romania, which is expected to develop business platform with more than 250 participants.
The companies participating in the forum will be predominantly 5 sectors of agro-food sector, infrastructure, energy, information technology and tourism. In addition to the organized business meetings, the participants will have the opportunity to observe the investment panels in the Balkans, financing and development of businesses in the region.
In 2017, France is the 23rd trading partner in the foreign trade of the Republic of Macedonia.
The total trade exchange of the Republic of Macedonia with the Republic of France for the period January-November 2017 reached the value of 157.3 million dollars, which is an increase of almost 44% compared to the same period in 2016. In addition, export was worth US $ 51.3 million with an increase of 126%, while the import balance of USD 106 million increased by 22.7%.
